"Classrooms" are supposed to facilitate Education and education is an enlightening experience. Learning takes all sorts of different forms and can happen anytime, anywhere and under all different kinds of circumstances.
Individuals and groups come to the famed Michigan Stadium, or the "Big House", to have the experience of a lifetime and to go through a rather spiritually enlightening journey. In this architectural space, anything is possible and everything can be achieved. From sports competitions to academic conferences to ad hoc events to scientific experiments to religious pilgrimages, the potential and possibilities are endless in the Big House. This is the place where records are broken, miracles are made, dreams are fulfilled and the "impossibles" are turned into "possibles".
This spectacularly constructed architectural space is one of the biggest in the world, offers sound any range of desirable sound qualities, viewing from 360 degrees and even a bird's eye-view from up in the air. Furnitures of any nature and serving any purposes can be placed inside the stadium to cater to the respective needs of the events.

The Big House/Michigan stadium is a place where people learn unlike any other classroom on U of M campus. The use of the space can be for a sports game, gathering (i.e. polar plunge), meetings, workouts, etc. Almost anything that one can dream can be done in this space.
ReplyDeletePeople learn a great deal in this classroom. Sports teams learn from their mistakes on the field or ice. Fans learn who was the better team that day. The coaches learn who their best players are. People experience what it is like to have a hundred thousand screaming fans around. Athletes working out in the space experience how big the area is while working out, or how steep the stadium stairs are.
This space has given a lot of lessons and experiences to a huge amount of people. The architectual qualities of this classroom are astounding. From the sheer magnitude of the space, including the amount of people it can hold. The oval shape mimics that of the ancient colosseum. Sounds can be heard across the stadium. The lighting is amazing with the sheer quantity of lights and quality of lighting. Overall besides being a classroom, or a learning center, the Big House is an architectural feat on its own; being used by various amounts of people from all fields, for a variety of different activities.
